I am Angi Wallace, a creative photographer and artist based in the UK, with a passion for exploring the smaller details of the world around us.
My photography has evolved considerably over the years, but creativity has increasingly become the thread that connects everything I do. I love close-up and macro photography, flowers, fungi, still life and nature, but I am equally drawn to the more experimental side of photography. In recent years I have been exploring Intentional Camera Movement (ICM), multiple exposures, abstraction and the incorporation of my own artwork into my photographic images.
Before photography became such an important part of my life, I worked as a Rheumatology Specialist Nurse. Photography began as a passion and hobby more than 19 years ago and has gradually grown into something much more significant.
Like many photographers, I have explored a wide range of genres along the way. My early photography concentrated heavily on amphibians and reptiles, another passion of mine at the time. From there, my interests expanded into wildlife, landscapes, portraits and gig photography.
Over time, however, I found myself increasingly drawn towards close-up photography and the creative possibilities found in small and often overlooked subjects.
Flowers, fungi, insects and other natural subjects became particular favourites. I began exploring focus stacking to reveal extraordinary levels of detail in macro subjects, while also developing personal projects involving submerged flowers, colour and folklore.
Today, I would describe my speciality as creative close-up photography, both in nature and in my home studio.
Photography, Art and Imagination
I have always been inspired by folklore, fantasy, paganism and fairy tales, and these influences inevitably find their way into my work.
I love creating photographs that feel as though they might belong within the pages of a fairy tale — images that are ethereal, magical, mysterious or slightly otherworldly.
This influence may be most obvious in some of my creative portraiture, but I hope that as you explore my galleries, you will also see it appearing in my flowers, fungi, still life and abstract work.
For me, photography is not simply about recording what is in front of the camera. Increasingly, it is about interpretation, imagination and creating something that expresses how I see and feel about a subject.
Alongside photography, I also enjoy creating art. Watercolour painting and mixed media give me another way to explore colour, texture and creativity, and I am increasingly enjoying finding ways to combine my artistic work with my photography.
For 2025 and 2026, my creative journey has moved even further towards experimentation and abstraction. I am particularly enjoying working with:

I don't feel the need to fit my work neatly into one particular niche. Instead, I enjoy allowing different genres and techniques to influence one another.
Everything I learn in one area of photography has the potential to inspire something new somewhere else.
Creating From Home
Much of my photography is created from home, using a small studio setup in our dining room.
Due to long-term health limitations, energy-demanding photography activities are not always possible for me. This has inevitably shaped the way I work, but it certainly hasn't stopped me from creating.
In many ways, working from home has encouraged me to look more closely at the possibilities around me. A single flower, an interesting mushroom, a small insect or a collection of everyday objects can become the starting point for an entire creative project.
My work is a reminder to myself that creativity does not always require travelling to spectacular locations or having access to extraordinary subjects. Sometimes the most interesting photographs can be created with a little imagination, curiosity and experimentation.
I primarily photograph personal projects for my own enjoyment, creative development and photographic competitions.
Commissions and Tuition
Because of my health, I am unable to undertake frequent or regular photography work. However, I may occasionally be able to take on individual commissions depending on the project and my availability.
If you have an idea you would like to discuss, please feel free to get in touch. Because of the variety of photography and creative work I undertake, I don't offer a standard price list, but where possible I am happy to discuss an individual package based around your requirements.
I may also be able to offer one-to-one tuition, either in person or online, particularly in areas such as close-up and macro photography, creative photography and editing.
Talks, Tutorials and YouTube
I am often asked whether I give camera club talks or run workshops.
I have previously given presentations and tuition, but I am currently unable to undertake regular live talks or workshops. I hope this may change in the future if my health allows.
I have, however, given online presentations on fungi photography and floral photography, hosted by Camversation. These presentations were recorded and are available to purchase and watch through Camversation.

Recorded presentations are something I hope to continue creating, as they allow me to share my knowledge and experience in a way that is much more manageable for me.
I am also slowly building my YouTube channel, where I share more of my photography, creative projects, techniques and experiments.

Publications and Other Work
My photography and writing have appeared in numerous publications, including magazines, books, album and book covers, newspapers and websites.
Earlier in my career, I was also the Editor of Reptile Care magazine, around 2009–2010. For two years I was responsible for writing articles and reviews, creating layouts and overseeing the day-to-day running of the magazine.
Since then, my work has appeared in a variety of publications and media, including magazines, books, newspapers and websites such as the BBC and Amateur Photographer.
